When things really hit the fan, I grabbed my camera and reporter pad and ran into the fire and dodged the flying bullets (quite literally in Texas).  But it wasn't all police showdowns and natural disasters, I made sure to get a balance of "feel good" stories in there, too. Reporters don't actually like bad news, after all. Well, at least not this one.

Sure, I was hired by news outlets to research and write. But I figured, while I'm here, I might as well take the photos, too.

 

Doing two jobs at once was an efficient use of limited resources during a recession, and I rather enjoyed being the only one in the newsroom they trusted to accomplish that.
